    TO THE RECIPE
blw snack recipe porridge bites with strawberries and blueberries next to a blue toy car.
These 3 ingredient porridge bites are a quick and easy baby led weaning recipe that my toddler still loves.

    Porridge Bites

Mini Jones did not like the texture of porridge for a long time, so in a bid to get him used to breakfast foods other than toast, I baked some porridge in a mini muffin tin with berries on top. This seemed to work and were an instant hit.

I love making them as they are so simple: mix quick oats and milk, stand for 10 minutes, then spoon in to a mini muffin tin, top with fruit and bake. The oats and milk are something I always have in, I just alter the fruit depending to whats in season. Thin slices of pear or apple, a small segment of plum or peach – they are all tasty variations.

They also make a great portable snack too and keep well in lunchboxes.

    Ingredients

    • 3 tablespoons quick cook porridge oats
    • 3 tablespoons milk
    • fruit of your choice – currently I'm using 4 blueberries and a strawberry cut into thirds

    Instructions

    • Preheat the oven to 180˚C/350˚F
    • Mix the oats and milk together in a bowl and leave for ten minutes.
    • Drop teaspoons of the mixture into a lightly greased mini muffin tin – the mixture will still look pretty sloppy but don’t worry, the oats will absorb the milk.
    • Place a piece of fruit on the top and press down slightly.
    • Cook for 15 minutes, until set. Cool for 5 minutes in the tin and then place the bites on a wire rack.
    • Store in an airtight container for a day or two.
