Why we love this recipe
- Easy to make
- Savoury beef mince is such a versatile recipe, it can be turned into pies, chilli con carne, lasagna, or eaten on it’s own!
- One pot meal.
- A great meal prep recipe – keep in the fridge enjoy for the next 3 days.
- Good for batch cooking – this mince freezes well.
- Kid friendly recipe, and good for fussy eaters too (see my recipe tips below)
Ingredients Notes
- Minced Beef – lean minced beef, the best you can buy. You can use lamb mince instead.
- Onion – red or brown.
- Tomatoes – tinned/canned diced tomatoes. Use plum tomatoes and break them up with a spoon once they’re in the pan. Some savoury mince recipes don’t add tomatoes, but I love using them as they make the mince red rather than brown, and adds another vegetable in to the recipe.
- Herbs – dried oregano, you can also use dried rosemary or Italian seasoning.
- Vegetables – carrots and celery. You can also add peas, capsicum/red pepper, zucchini/courgette, corn, mushrooms, whatever you and your family like!
- Worcestershire sauce – I use this savoury English sauce in so many dishes. If you don’t have it, add a splash of soy sauce, or leave out altogether.

A slice of toast, jacket potatoes, crispy Parmentier potatoes, Duchess potatoes, pasta or rice
Dried herbs, onions and garlic, Worcestershire sauce. I also like to add fresh herbs such as thyme and oregano before serving
My Recipe Tips
- Cook the onion, celery and carrot slowly for maximum flavour.
- Brown the beef mince before adding the tomatoes – this adds flavour to your mince.
